Matt Gorder

Ombudsman

Matt earned his B.S. in Engineering from UCLA in 1981, and currently works as the Technical Director at MTI Laboratory in El Segundo, CA, developing radios for the cellular telecommunications industry. He became involved with the UCR Pipe Band when his son John joined the band as a piper back in 2008. John learned to play the bagpipes from Mike Terry’s community class, and moved from Mike’s class into the band. Matt serves as the Band Ombudsman and is willing to help answer any questions or concerns that members may have regarding the band, and can bring those concerns to the Board of Directors on a confidential basis. In his spare time, Matt is a devoted follower of the UCLA Bruins and the San Diego Padres. He enjoys hiking, camping, and swimming
